Toothpick Squares | Money - Maths
Welcome to another post on my blog. Today in Money (Maths), we presented the work that we had been focusing on for two weeks. We were first given various problems and we had to choose one of them to work on as a group. We made a group of 4 and chose a problem, 'Toothpick Squares'. We were given a few questions (Slide 2) and we had to answer them.

Graphing | Sustainability
Welcome to another post on my blog. Today I finished another task for the Sustainability hurumanu. I still continue on the Maps & Map Skills topic. The second topic was about Mapping Task after doing the FACKTS task. First, I learnt about graphs and types of graphs (Bar & Column, Histogram, Scatter, Pie and Line Graph). Secondly, I learnt about FAULTSPK (F - Frame, A - Axis, U - Unit, L - Labels, T - Title, S - Scale, P - Plot and K - Key). After reading all of the information I had to complete the given task.
The task was to Use the following information to create a Line Graph.
Change of population in “Mythical Country” between 1990 - 2010.
1990 - 100,000
1995 - 104,000
2000 - 107,000
2005 - 112,000
2010 - 115,000
I had to create my graph on Google Drawing via Google Docs, I hope you like it.

Mapping | Sustainability
Welcome to another post on my blog. In today's post, I am going to share the activity that I finished for Maths and Sustainability. The topic was Maps & Map Skills. First, we learnt about FACKTS (Frame, Arrow, Colour, Key, Title, Scale), then, we had to do a mapping task using what we've learnt about FACKTS. Next, we had to present our work on our blog.
The task was to complete a map by locating the Top 10 Countries to visit in 2019. Using an atlas find the following countries and colour them onto the map in different colours. The countries were;
- Sri Lanka
- Germany
- Zimbabwe
- Panama
- Kyrgyzstan
- Jordan
- Indonesia
- Belarus
- Canada
- Belize
Here is my work.

Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! | Food Technology
Welcome to another post on my blog. For food technology, we had been cooking Chocolate Chip Cookies. It was really fun and enjoying. Last food technology, we had been making the dough for the cookies. Now, today, we have been cooking them in the oven. After making the dough for the cookies, we had to weigh the weight of the dough.
The weight of the dough was 403g.
Next, we had to divide the weight of the dough by 12. Because we are making 12 cookies, per pair. That total will be our weigh for one cookie. We have to make 12 cookies of the same weight.
Using Long Division we had divided the total. Here is an example of Long Division and how to do it.

The total weight of one cookie was 33.5g
First of all, we rolled the cookies and used a fork to mark the cookies. We had a test cookie, which had the exact amount of one cookie. Next, we baked the cookies, and observe if the cookie increased or decreased its size. After cooking the cookies, we had to weigh the test cookie after being cooked.
Conclusion:
Sadly, our test cookie increased the weight be 0.2g (33.7g). But, when I tasted the cookies, they tasted good.
I didn't take a photo of the cookie.

What So Far? | Physical Education
For this post, I will be sharing you what have been doing so far (after Tapu ae). Because we haven't posted after Tapu ae.
We have been looking at a new topic after Tapu ae. Also, we have been doing some new things too. Last week, we have been doing some things like the Beep Test (Well, earlier, when we had done the Beep Test), Maths and Dodgeball.
Let's go back to the Beep Test, the first one that I had done was 'Stage 4 Part 2', which was low for my age. I had made improvements in my fitness by doing more and engaging more. The second Beep Test that I had done, my score was 'Stage 6 Part 3', which was a really big improvement in my fitness. Which means that I can run or jog for a long time. When I reached Stage 6 Part 3, my energy was all out and I couldn't do more. I wanted to quit at the start of Stage 6, but I pushed harder and tried my best. So this is one of the things that we had done. Here's the second part.
So the second part that we have done is Maths. We have been doing the 'Hurumanu Football Club Grounds Maintenence Challenge'. We need to know addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, budget, area, perimeter, cost, size, how big is the sportsfield & pitch and time & date. So, there is lots of information that we need to be knowing and learning. We need to work in groups. In my group, there is Christian, Khyle, JV and I. Here is the third and last part of what we have done.
Dodgeball was one of the best things that we have done. It was really exciting and fun. Last Thursday, we played three games of dodgeball by different categories (Class vs Class, Yr7 vs Yr8 and Boys vs Girls).
I hope you like my post of what have so far done in P.E. Have a cool day!! Bye!!

What We Had Done | DMIC Maths
Yesterday, we had done DMIC maths. We had done another problem, but it was relating to graphs and charts.
There were heaps of things that I learnt yesterday, like, recording information in a chart, interpreting information, comparing information, axis and labels. My group went well, we had completed the work on time.

Octopuses, Fishes and Mermaids
Today for DMIC maths, we had to answer another question. It was about Octopuses, Fishes and Mermaids in a rock pool. There were 38 arms, 24 eyes and 8 tails. We needed to find how many mermaids there were. Here’s how we found out!
I hope you like how we found out the question. Have a cool day!! Bye!!

Let's Do DMIC Maths
For today's post, I will be posting about what we had done today morning. Today, someone from DMIC Maths came to our class to teach our teacher. So, we had to figure out a problem-solving maths question. We had to be in our DMIC Maths groups and figure out the question. I was in a group with JV, Khyle and Rican. It was a question about the Sports Uniform. The problem was:
'A sports team shirt with your name printed on it costs $30 if your name has six letters. If your name had ten letters, the same shirt will cost you $38. The cost is worked out on the price of a plain shirt plus a standard amount added on for each letter.' The question was:
1. What is the price of a plain shirt (with no name printed)?
2. What would be the total price for shirts for the member of your group?
First, we had discussed as a class about how we communicate as a group. There were answers like,
In our group, we discussed what our opinion was. First, the teacher said to think about the question. Next, we had to discuss with our group, Khyle went first. He said that the price of the plain shirt (with no name printed) was $18, I had the same answer too. Later, he said that one letter equals $2, JV and I agreed. Four letters equal $8, I had done it by 1 letter equal $2.
After solving the first question, we starting solving question 2. What we had done first was that we had told how long was our name, mine was five. So, we times it by two and added by $18, then we added them together, we got $80 for three people.
After the time to solve was over, we all sat on the mat and shared our solving. Our group was one of the two to show the class how we solved the problem. We showed them what we had written in our big piece of paper.
It was a really good morning working out a maths question. I hope you like my reflection of my morning today. Have a cool day!! Bye!!

First, we had discussed as a class about how we communicate as a group. There were answers like,
- Sharing ideas too
- Helping others - not one person doing all the work
- Speak clearly and asking others to do the same
- If you disagree, don't make a big deal about it

Try to Answer this
For today's post, we had to post about a maths DLO that we had done. We had an activity to answer a question that the teacher had set. Almost the whole class understood and knew the question. In that question, the question didn't have numbers, there were images of parts of cars. We had to figure out what each part means. When we all figured it out, our teacher told us about BEDMAS, which means, Brackets, Exponents, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. Our teacher gave us an activity to make a question like that one. I worked with David and to make our own question. We used fruits to make the question. David and I thought to make this question hard. Try to answer it. Can you figure it out? Comment down below what you're answer is.
I hope you like my post about my question. Comment down below if you've figured out the question. Have a cool day!! Bye!!
