'A sports team shirt with your name printed on it costs $30 if your name has six letters. If your name had ten letters, the same shirt will cost you $38. The cost is worked out on the price of a plain shirt plus a standard amount added on for each letter.' The question was:
1. What is the price of a plain shirt (with no name printed)?
2. What would be the total price for shirts for the member of your group?
First, we had discussed as a class about how we communicate as a group. There were answers like,
- Sharing ideas too
- Helping others - not one person doing all the work
- Speak clearly and asking others to do the same
- If you disagree, don't make a big deal about it
In our group, we discussed what our opinion was. First, the teacher said to think about the question. Next, we had to discuss with our group, Khyle went first. He said that the price of the plain shirt (with no name printed) was $18, I had the same answer too. Later, he said that one letter equals $2, JV and I agreed. Four letters equal $8, I had done it by 1 letter equal $2.
After solving the first question, we starting solving question 2. What we had done first was that we had told how long was our name, mine was five. So, we times it by two and added by $18, then we added them together, we got $80 for three people.
After the time to solve was over, we all sat on the mat and shared our solving. Our group was one of the two to show the class how we solved the problem. We showed them what we had written in our big piece of paper.
It was a really good morning working out a maths question. I hope you like my reflection of my morning today. Have a cool day!! Bye!!
