Encryption Methods & Techniques - Cybersecurity: Cryptography | DTE

Crytography
Credit

Welcome to another post on my blog. In Digital Technology (DTE), we are looking at Cryptography in our main topic Cyber Security. For the final week for Term 1, we looked at encryption and its methods and techniques. First, we had to look and use Discover Crypt, decrypt the encrypted message. This game is designed to increase the knowledge of those who are interested in learning cryptography.

Next, after playing the game, we had to use the knowledge which we had learnt from Discover Crypt into the slide which we were assigned. This slide involves three stages of cryptographic methodologies - easy, medium and hard.

Lastly, after making the presentation, our next task was to write a personal reflection of our experience in developing our work.

Personal Reflection

I feel I've learnt a lot from the cryptography topic; this is because I really didn't know what cryptography is, what it means and information relating to cryptography such as encryption. I learnt that there are so many encryption methods and techniques that are found in the slide that I made. It was really good that we were given an video that overviews and introduces the main topic of cryptography.

Game Improvements: Cybersecurity - Cryptography | DTE

Welcome to another post on my blog. In Digital Technology (DTE), we are looking at Cryptography in our main topic Cyber Security. Today, we played a few cryptography-based games which were assigned to us. The task which was given was to add what we wanted to add if we would to the game.

I played two games, Cybersecurity Lab - NOVA Labs and Cybersecurity Ops: Terminal. Both games were about cyber attacks and protecting them.

The first game I played was the Cybersecurity Lab, in which we had to defend a company that is a target of increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks. Our task was to strengthen our cyber defences and prevent attackers by attacking the company.

What I would change in the game are the games that are in the game. It looks quite plain when the games are too easy. I would make it a bit harder and more entertaining to play.

The second game I played was Cybersecurity Ops: Terminal. Where it is a simulated cyber breach game experience in a terminal. Our job was to respond decisively to protect the airport's systems, prevent the cybercriminals from taking control of the airport. This includes first being an IT analyst, troubleshooting suspicious WiFi outages and pushing firmware upgrades. Then, take the role of a manager tasked with recruiting and strategically deploying an incident response team. Finally, in the last role, the player is asked to make CISO-level official decisions, encourage concerned board members, and field calls from a reporter who can smell a story.

What I would change is the speed of the game. When we were given scenarios and asked to choose someone to solve the scenario, it goes really quickly and we aren't able to complete all tasks.

Digital Technology Summary Post

For the last few weeks in Digital Technology, we have been working on a project which included coding with spheros. The main project that we were given was to use the Sphero to code an activity to learn something new. We first formed into groups, of three, I was in a group with Ranit and Eugene. We went on the Sphero website and saw some activities which would give us some ideas. As we were looking, we saw a project which was about Mars Mission and a few activities relating to that.

Our group were thinking about the movement on Mars and that is the one that we chose - Mars Mission | Movement. Our plan was to create a model of the Mars rover and the map on where the rover travelled. When we told the teacher about this, he gave us a website which helped us a lot, it was Access Mars: A WebVR Experiment. It is a 3D replica of the Mars surface, exactly recorded by the Curiosity rover. As Curiosity travelled Mars, it takes digital photographs with two stereoscopic camera systems. By Combining and analysing these photographs, scientists at NASA JPL have created a 3D model used to study Mars and their future plan experiments.

We created a sphero code on the sphero website. I've screenshot of what code I have done so far.

Our map is based on the Curiosity rover and here is the map which we have traced on.

Personal Reflection

I learnt more information about Mars such as the Gale Crater in which the Curiosity rover landed - precisely, Aeolis Palus. When we were doing our research on the Curiosity rover, I learnt all of the things that I researched.

The rover was landed on a place named Bradbury landing - On 22nd August 2012, on what would have been his 92nd birthday, NASA named the site for the author Ray Bradbury, who had died on 5th June 2012.

What I didn't like about the project was that we couldn't complete the rover made from the EPro8 kit. That's the only thing which I did not like about the project.

Digital Technology So Far | Digital Technology

Welcome to another post on my blog. For the past few weeks, in Digital Technology, we learnt about the Design Process, Ergonomics and did some coding on code.org.

Design Process

In the Design Process, had to make our modified Design Process from an image. We had to make our Design Process via Google Drawing.

Here is the drawing and the original image.

Hour Of Code

On 28 July, I finished my first 'Hour of Code' in code.org. I had to do coding for around an hour and after completing, I got my certificate for completing the 'Hour of Code'. Here is the certificate.

What's Ergonomics?

On 5 August, I finished off my infographic about Ergonomics. First, we learnt about infographics, and we had to make an infographic either from, Canva, Piktochart, or Venngage. We need to find an infographic about Ergonomics and use the text information online to create an infographic. Here is the infographic that I created.

Summary:

I have been enjoying Digital Technology, learning about the Design Process, earning my certificate for code.org and making an infographic about Ergonomics. I found code.org really fun, doing fun activities with code. I also enjoyed making posters and infographics.

Try this Product!! | Digital Technology

Welcome to another post on my blog. For the last few weeks for Digital Technology, we have been creating our product for our issue. A few weeks ago, I posted my Research Template about my research for my product. The product that I have chosen is an App, we have to use App Lab in Code.org to create the app. Also, my issue is Environmental, and I have chosen Greenhouse gases  Because it is the last day for this hurumanu, we have to reflect about what we have done so far and share our product/app. This app took a few weeks to make, and it was a big effort. I had included my questions and information from my Research Template. Here is my app that I have created. I hope you like it.

It might take time to load the app.

This app is not completed.

_______(your issue)_________

affect?
Here's a simple definition of global warming. (And yes, it's really happening.) Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. And experts see the trend is accelerating: All but one of the 16 hottest years in NASA’s 134-year record have occurred since 2000. Climate change deniers have argued that there has been a “pause” or a “slowdown” in rising global temperatures, but several recent studies, including a 2015 paper published in the journal Science, have disproved this claim. And scientists say that unless we curb global-warming emissions, average U.S. temperatures could increase by up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.

Global warming occurs when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants and greenhouse gases collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. Normally, this radiation would escape into space—but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter. That's what's known as the greenhouse effect.

Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are drying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace. It has become clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. Called greenhouse gases, their levels are higher now than at any time in the last 800,000 years. We often call the result of global warming, but it is causing a set of changes to the Earth's climate, or long-term weather patterns, that varies from place to place. While many people think of global warming and climate change as synonyms, scientists use “climate change” when describing the complex shifts now affecting our planet’s weather and climate systems—in part because some areas actually get cooler in the short term.

Global warming is the long-term warming of the planet’s overall temperature. Though this warming trend has been going on for a long time, its pace has significantly increased in the last hundred years due to the burning of fossil fuels. As the human population has increased, so has the volume of fossil fuels burned. Fossil fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas, and burning them causes what is known as the “greenhouse effect” in Earth’s atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is when the Sun’s rays penetrate the atmosphere, but when that heat is reflected off the surface cannot escape back into space. Gases produced by the burning of fossil fuels prevent the heat from leaving the atmosphere. These greenhouse gasses are carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, water vapor, methane, and nitrous oxide. The excess heat in the atmosphere has caused the average global temperature to rise over time, otherwise known as global warming.

Question 1

(you need to use your own question here, use the matrix below to give you a starting idea)

What causes Global Warming?
When carbon dioxide and air pollutants and greenhouse gases gather in the atmosphere and recieve sunlight and solar radiation that has bounded off the earth’s surface.
Releasing heat-trapped gases, which is called Greenhouse gases.
Because of Fossil fuels which include coal, oil, and natural gas, and burning them causes what is known as the “greenhouse effect” in Earth’s atmosphere.
Question 2

(you need to use your own question here, use the matrix below to give you a starting idea)

Why is the temperature increasing?
Because of the heat which is trapped in the atmosphere. Which can last for centuries. It is called the Greenhouse effect.

Because of Greenhouse gases which is in our atmosphere.
Because of Fossil fuel which includes coal, oil, and natural gas which is burned and reaching our atmosphere. It is called the Greenhouse effect.
Question 3

(you need to use your own question here, use the matrix below to give you a starting idea)

How does Greenhouse effect?
Greenhouse gases collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that is bounced off the Earth’s surface.

Usually, this should escape from space, but its pollutants, which last for many centuries in the atmosphere, which traps the heat in the atmosphere which makes our planet more hotter.

The Greenhouse gases level is increasing higher in the last 800,000 years. This is called Global Warming.
The Greenhouse gases is produced by burning fossil fuels which stop the heat from leaving the atmosphere.

Use the question matrix to think about what questions you might research. Think about what questions will give you the most relevant information to your issue.

Introduction | Digital Technology

We had just started a new hurumanu called Digital Technology. We had discussed Social, Environmental and Ethical. We had watched some clips about those three topics. Next, we had to write our knowledge in a document. After, we had to brainstorm about those topics and choose one topic that we have interest in. There are some questions that I will be answering about Digital Technology. Here we go.

  • What do we think this Digital Technology Hurumanu will be about?
    • I think that this Digital Technology Hurumanu will include making an app, making websites and a game.
  • What do you already know about D.T., eg: apps, etc.
    • I can print from a printer.
    • I can use a range of apps like Google, and more others that I can't think off yet.
  • What are you hoping to learn during this Hurumanu?
    • I am hoping to learn about coding and learning new coding information. I want to try to make my own app.
