New Zealand's Government System
Today, in Power to the People hurumanu, we looked at the New Zealand Government. First, we looked at New Zealand's Government Structure - Head of State, Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. After learning about these types of structure, we had to create a poster about New Zealand's Government Structure.

Types of Government | Power to the People
Welcome to another post. Last week, we started a new hurumanu called 'Power to the People hurumanu'. It is mainly about politics. We began to look at the 'Types of Governments'. The teacher presented 7 types of governments as our main focus of our presentations. Which included — Democracy, Monarchy, Dictatorship, Communism, Totalitarianism, Oligarchy, and Anarchy. There were activities that we had to complete before making this blog. The first task was to write the definition of each type of government and looking at the pros and cons of those governments. The next task was, using FACKTS (Frame, Arrow, Colour, Key, Title, Scale), to locate and label 5 countries of each type of political system and had to put that on our presentation. The third task was to find a leader of each type of government from the past or present, with their image, including how long and what type of leader they were. In our presentation, we had to include a bibliography recording each source we went to.
Slide 10: Using FACKTS (Frame, Arrow, Colour, Key, Title, Scale), locate and label 5 countries of each type of political system and had to put that on our presentation.
Task 3: Find a leader of each type of government from the past or present. Add their image, when they were leaders, for how long, and what type of leader they were. Link

Bunsen Burner | Making Waves
Today, in Making Waves hurumanu. We first looked at Science Equipments, and then the Bunsen Burner. We first, we had to label the Bunsen Burner parts.A Bunsen burner is a common piece of laboratory equipment. It is one of the most dangerous.
We had to do an experiment using a Bunsen burner.
Lighting a Bunsen BurnerAim: To correctly light a Bunsen burner.
Equipment:
- Bunsen burner
- Heatproof mat
- Lighter
Method:
- Place the heatproof mat on your workbench.
- Connect the Bunsen burner to the gas outlet.
- Turn the collar so that the air hole is closed.
- Light a lighter and hold it 2-3 cm above the nozzle of the Bunsen burner.
- Turn the gas on at the top.
a) Describe the colour of the Bunsen burner. Blue - Extremely Hot, Orange - Hot
b) Is the flame producing any noise? No
c) Is it producing any smoke or soot? Yes, a little bit
6. Carefully move the collar so that the air hole is now open.
d) Describe the colour of the Bunsen flame. Orange
e) Is the flame producing any noise? No
f) Is it producing any smoke or soot? Yes, a little bit
g) Is the Bunsen flame you described in a) more visible than the flame you described in d)? No, because in a), the colour of the Bunsen burner was blue and orange, and when the air hole is open, it is orange.
h) If you were going to leave your Bunsen burner unattended should the air be open or closed? Justify your answer.

Science Materials | Making Waves
Today, in Making Waves hurumanu, we looked at materials that we are going to use in this science hurumanu. We were given materials and we had to name them and get an image of that material.
250mL Beaker
Beakers are used to hold chemicals and liquids.
Test Tube Tongs
Test Tube Tongs are used to carry Test Tubes when there are hot.
100mL Measuring Cylinder
Measuring Cylinders are used for measuring
Conical Flask
Conical Flask is used to stir and measure liquid.
Spatula
A Spatula is used to stir chemicals and liquids.
Pipette
A Pipette is used to mix tiny chemicals and liquid.

Science Introduction | Making Waves
Today, was our first lesson, introduction, in Making Waves Hurumanu (Hurumanu 5).
