Energy Transformation Experiment | Physics

Today, in Physics, we looked more into Energy Transformation and we are doing an experiment about it. First, we had to write the eight types of energy:

  1. Light
  2. Heat
  3. Electricity
  4. Chemical
  5. Potential
  6. Kinetic
  7. Magnetic
  8. Sound

  1. Chemical + electrical = Phone
  2. Light + chemical = Flashlight, car,
  3. Kinetic + light = Comet

Aim: To make a marshmallow shooter that transforms energy

Equipment:

  1. Marshmallow
  2. Scissors
  3. Balloon
  4. Plastic Cup (we used styrofoam cup)
  5. Duct tape (optional)

Method:

  1. Take the scissors and cut the bottom off the cup.
  2. Take the balloon and cut the bottom off the very tip.
  3. After you cut that, you will take it and stretch it over the top of the cup where you cut the hole.
  4. Once it's on, you will tie a knot in the end where you normally blow air into the balloon.
  5. Optional: In order to secure the balloon, take a piece of duct tape and wrap it around securely. Taping the balloon to the cup will allow you to be able to pull the balloon as far back as you can without it snapping off.
  6. Take a handful of marshmallow (this will be your ammo) and you will be able to shoot at far distances.
  7. Take one marshmallow and place it in the very centre of the bottom of the cup.
  8. Have fun!

Conclusion:

This experiment turns from 'Elastic potential energy ➡️ Kinetic energy'.
