Aim: To make a solar powered oven.
Materials:

  1. Sellotape
  2. Scissors
  3. Pizza Box
  4. Straw
  5. Marshmallow
  6. Biscuit
  7. Glad wrap
  8. Tinfoil
  9. Black plastic
  10. Ruler
  11. Vivid marker (pen)
  12. Newspaper
Steps:
  1. Cut out the flap on the lid of the pizza box so that it is 5cm around the edge.
  2. Sellotape some tinfoil on the inside of the flap.
  3. Sellotape some glad wrap so that the hole you have to cut on the pizza box lid is covered over with glad wrap.
  4. Put a piece of black plastic on the bottom of inside of the pizza box on the bottom.
  5. Make a paper square out of newspaper that fits inside the pizza box and lays around the edge.
  6. Put a marshmallow on top of a chocolate biscuit, place it on a plastic plate and put it on the solar oven.
  7. Put it in the sun to cook.

Conclusion

The smores weren't cooked because there was no sun near the oven. The positive thing was that heat couldn't get out of the oven because everything is perfectly fitted.

  • Recorder
  • Anemometer Manager
  • Wind Manager
  1. Mount the anemometer in a place that has full access to the wind from all directions.
  2. When the time keeper says "Go", the counter in each group will count how many times the marked cup passes them in one minute and write it down.
  3. Repeat the above step four (4) times and record the number of spins on the chart.
FINDINGS

  • Record how many times it spins and record it in the table below.
  • You will need to time them and count the number of spins.

Definitions | Conservation/Sustainability

Welcome to another post on my blog. For science, we have to write the definitions some words relating to weather. We had first watched a severe weather video.

Definitions:
  • Anemometer: Is an instrument which measures the wind.
  • Beaufort wind scale: It is a scale for measuring wind speeds. It is based on observation rather than accurate measurement.
  • Typhoon: Is a tropical cyclone in the Northern Hemisphere.
  • Monsoon: Is a seasonal wind which lasts for several months.
  • What is it when the weather is really nice and turns to hail? Climate Change

Match Cancelled

Welcome to another post on my blog. In today's post, I am going to share two games which got cancelled.

Typhoon Hagabis

The two games were cancelled due to the threat of Typhoon Hagabis. Which struck Yokohama and nearby Tokyo with 270kph. That makes Typhoon Hagabis equivalent of Category 5 hurricane on the Saffir Simpson Wind Sale - the strongest category there is.

This is the first time a Rugby World Cup game has been cancelled. New Zealand vs Italy and England vs France has been cancelled due to Typhoon Hagabis.

As a result of the extreme weather, multiple events have been cancelled. Formula 1 has been cancelled all activities at the Japanese Grand Prix. It has also been announced that flights are expected to be grounded. Airlines (JAL and ANA) will cancel their flights and access to airports via busses and trains will be affected due to the typhoon.

Spring Leaning Journey: Food | Activity 15

Welcome to another post on my blog. For today's post, I will be doing another activity for the Spring Leaning Journey. For today's post, I will be doing some creative math. The task is: If the answer is 100 pizzas, what could the question be? Come up with at least three different ways you could find this answer!

Question and solution 1:

Jay had ordered 200 pizzas for a grand party. 100 pizzas were eaten, how many pizzas were left?

There would be 100 left because if you subtract 100 from 200, it would be 100.

Question and solution 2:

Noah had bought 150 pizzas, Jim had bought 50 pizzas. How much more pizzas did Noah buy then Jim?

The answer would be 100 pizzas. This question is trying to say that what is the amount difference between Noah and Jim's pizza. Or to make it easier, we could just subtract 150 by 50, which would be 100.

Question and solution 3:

Trent had 25 pieces of pizza dough, 25 pieces of grated cheese, 25 pieces of pepperoni and 25 pieces of mozzarella cheese. How much pizza would Trent make?

To get the answer, you would need to first count how many ingredients there are, there are four ingredients and they all have 25 pieces. Now, we need to multiply 25 by 4. That would equal 100.

I hope you like my post about the pizza questions. I hope you learnt something new. Have a cool day!! Bye!!
