Difference Between a Psychologist and Psychiatrist

For today's post we are going to tell you the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. There is not much difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist, let's find out.

What's a Psychologist?

A Psychologists focus to treat emotional and metal suffering patients. 

What's a Psychiatrist?

A Psychiatrist is a trained medical doctor and they spend their time with patients on medication managements as a course of treatment.

What's the difference?

Well Psychologists and Psychiatrists often work in the treatment of patients. 
A psychologist will not be able to write prescriptions, but it may be recommended a patient be seen by a psychiatrist.

Jobs of a Psychologist

Types of a Psychiatrists

Adult psychiatrist: They work with adults experiencing mental illness.
Addiction psychiatrist: They work with people who have addiction and substance miscue problems
Geriatric psychiatrist: Works with elderly people.

Education

To be a psychiatrist your educational timeline should be like this:
  • Bachelor's degree: Four Years
  • Medical School: Four years
  • Residency: Four years
